The problem of supernova photometric identification is still an open issue faced by large photometric surveys. In a previous investigation, we showed how combining Kernel Principal Component Analysis and Nearest Neighbour algorithms enable us to photometrically classify supernovae with a high rate of success. In the present work, we demonstrate that the introduction of Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) in determining each light curve highly improves the efficiency and purity rates. We present detailed comparison with results from the literature, based on the same simulated data set. The method proved to be satisfactorily efficient, providing high purity (⩽ 96%) rates when compared with standard algorithms, without demanding any information on astrophysical properties of the local environment, host galaxy or redshift.

Accreting supermassive black holes and starburst regions influence their host galaxies through kinetic/radiative feedback processes. To better understand the gas evolution of a Seyfert galaxy, in this study we perform fully 3D hydrodynamical simulations with radiative cooling considering the presence of star formation regions, supernova feedback and small-scale (1 kpc) jet propagation in the central region of an active spiral galaxy. We compute the gas mass lost by the system and we conclude that a kpc-scale outflow is generally established only when a nuclear starburst region is coupled to a supermassive black hole jet.

We present a new method for the detection and characterization of large scale expansion in galaxy discs based on Hα Fabry-Perot spectroscopy, taking advantage of the high spatial and velocity resolution of our instrument (GHαFaS). The method analyses multi-peaked emission line profiles to find expansion along the line of sight on a pixel-by-pixel basis. At this stage we have centred our attention on the large scale structures of expansive gas which show a coherent gradient of velocities from their centres as a result of both bubble shape and projection effect. The results show a wide range of expansion velocities in these superbubbles, ranging from 30-150 km/s, with the expected trend of finding the higher velocities in the more violent areas of the galaxies. We have applied the technique to the Antennae and M83, obtaining spectacular results, and used these to investigate to what extent kinematically derived ages can be found and used to characterize the ages of their massive star clusters.

Typically, to analyze the data of the phase dependence of brightness atmosphereless celestial bodies one use some modification of the shadow mechanism involving the coherent mechanism. There are several modification of B.Hapke [2] model divided into two groups by the number of unknown parameters: the first one with 4 parameters [3,4] and the second one with up to 10 unknown parameters [1] providing a good agreement of observations and calculations in several wavelengths. However, they are complicated by analysing of the colorindex C(α) dependence and photometric contrast of details with phase K(α) and on the disk (μ o = cos i). We have got good agreement between observed and calculated values of C(α) = U(α)-I(α), K(α), K(muo) for Moon and Mars with a minimum number of unknown parameters [4]. We used an empirical dependence of single scattering albedo (ω) and particle semi-transparency(æ): æ = (1-ω)n. Assuming that [χ (0°)/χ(5°)] = χ (5°)/χ (0°)], where χ(α) is scattering function, using the phase dependence of brightness and opposition effect in a single wavelength, we have defined ω,χ(α),g (particle packing factor), and the first term expansion of χ(α) in a series of Legendre polynomials x1. Good agreement between calculated and observed data of C(α) = U(α)-I(α) for the light and dark parts of the lunar surface and the integral disk reached at n ≈ 0,25, g = 0,4 (porosity 0,91), x1 = -0,93, ω = 0,137 at λ = 359nm and 0,394 at λ = 1064nm;, for Mars with n ≈ 0,25,g = 0,6 (porosity 0,84), x1 ≈ 0, ω = 0,210 at λ = 359nm and ω = 0,784 at λ = 730nm.

The observations of meteors using optical telescopes equipped with TV-cameras and the observations in radio signals using FM radio and TV translators are started in RI NAO since 2010.

We present a Principal Component Analysis (PCA) of the V band light-curves of a sample of more than 100 nearby Core collapse supernovae (CC SNe) from [Anderson et al. (2014)]. We used different reference epochs in order to extract the common properties of these light-curves and searched for correlations to some physical parameters such as the burning of 56Ni, and morphological light-curve parameters such as the length of the plateau, the stretch of the light-curve, and the decrements in brightness after maximum and after the plateau. We also used these similarities to create SNe II light-curve templates that will be used in the future for standardize these objects and determine cosmological distances.

Superbubbles and large scale expansion in galaxies are important indicators of activity in galaxies: they are formed in starbursts and around active nuclei. Superbubbles can be used to give information about the star-forming region which produced them. We present in-depth results of our study of kinematically detected superbubbles using a method based on Fabry-Perot spectroscopy, which allows us to map regions of expansion across the entire disk of a galaxy. Three objects have been selected for this poster based on the interest of the results they show: two interacting galaxies, the Antennae and Arp270, at different stages of galaxy interaction, and the more isolated galaxy M83. We present the kinematic expansion maps, as well as a census of detected superbubbles and a dynamical study of their properties.

The nearby spiral galaxy M81 has a low-luminosity Active Galactic Nucleus in its center with a core and a one-sided curved jet, dubbed M81*, that is barely resolved with VLBI. To derive basic parameters such as the length of the jet, its orientation and curvature, the usual method of model-fitting with point sources and elliptical Gaussians may not always be the most appropriate one. We are developing Fourier-plane models for such sources, in particular an asymmetric triangle model to fit the extensive set of VLBI data of M81* in the u-v plane. This method may have an advantage over conventional ones in extracting information close to the resolution limit to provide us with a more comprehensive picture of the structure and evolution of the jet. We report on preliminary results.

ODESSA. Systematical study of the meteor events are being carried out since 1953. In 2003 complete modernization of the observing technique was performed, and TV gmeteor patrolh on the base of WATEC LCL902 cameras was created. @ wide variety of mounts and objectives are used: from Schmidt telescope F = 540 mm, F/D = 2.25 (field of view FOV = (0.68x0.51) deg, star limiting magnitude SLM = 13.5 mag, star astrometric accuracy 1-2 arcsec) up to Fisheye lenses F = 8 mm, F/D = 3.5 (FOV = (36x49) deg, SLM = 7 mag). The database of observations that was collected between 2003 and 2012 consists of 6176 registered meteor events. Observational programs on basis and non-basis observations in Odessa (Kryzhanovka station) and Zmeiny island are presented. Software suite of 12 programs was created for processing of meteor TV observations. It enables one to carry out the whole cycle of data processing: from image preprocessing up to orbital elements determination. Major meteor particles research directions: statistic, areas of streams, precise stream radiant, orbit elements, phenomena physics, flare appearance, wakes, afterglow, chemistry and density. KYIV. The group of meteor investigations has been functioning more than twenty years. The observations are carried out simultaneously from two points placed at the distance of 54 km. Super-isocon low light camera tubes are used with photo lens: F = 50mm, F/D = 1.5 (FOV = (23.5 x 19.0) deg, SLM = 9.5 mag), or F = 85, F/D = 1.5 (FOV = (13x11) deg, SLM = 11.5 mag). Astrometry, photometry, calculation of meteor trajectory in Earth atmosphere and computation of heliocentric orbit are realized in developed gFalling Starh software. KHARKOV. Meteor radio-observations have begun in 1957. In 1972, the radiolocation system MARS designed for automatic meteor registration was recognized as being the most sensitive system in the world. With the help of this system 250 000 faint meteors (up to 12 mag) were registered between 1972 and 1978 (frequency 31.1 MHz, particle masses 10−3 ~ 10−6 g). Simultaneously, millions of reflections were registered for even fainter meteors (up to 14 mag). Information about 250 000 meteors and 5160 meteor streams is included in database. This is an unique material that can be used for hypotheses testing, as well as for creation new theories about meteor phenomena. Models of the meteor matter distribution in the Earthfs atmosphere, near-Earth space and in the Solar system, influence on surface of spacecrafts were developed. NIKOLAEV. The optical and radio observations of meteors have begun in 2011. Two WATEC LCL902 cameras are used with photo lens F = 85 mm, F/D = 1.8 (FOV = (3.2x4.3), SLM = 12 mag, star astrometric accuracy 1-6 arcsec). Original software was developed for automatic on-line detection of meteor in video stream. During 2011 year 105 meteor events were registered (with angular length (0.5-4.5) deg and brightness (1-5) mag). Error of determination of the meteor trajectory arc ~ (10-12) arcsec. Error of determination of the large circle pole of the meteor trajectory is ~ (3-13) arcmin. In the radio band observations of meteors are performed by registration of signal reflected from the meteor wake. As a signal source the over-the-horizon FM station in Kielce (Poland) is used. Narrow-beam antenna, computer with TV/FM tuner and audio recording software are used to perform radio observations. Original software was developed for automatic detection of meteor in audio stream.

We use 4 broadband SEDs spanning 7 years to study the spectral shape and long term variability of RE J2248-511: an unusual AGN discovered in the extreme-UV by the ROSAT Wide Field Camera. This implies a large ultrasoft X-ray flux, which is typical of narrow-line Seyfert 1s, yet its optical lines are clearly broader than the NLS1 definition allows. Here we show that the continuum SED for the brightest epoch dataset is consistent with the mean SED of a standard quasar, and matches well to that from an XMM–SDSS sample of AGN with M/M⊙ ~ 108 and L/LEdd ~ 0.2. All the correlated optical and soft X-ray variability can be due entirely to a major absorption event. The only remarkable aspect of this AGN is that there is no measurable intrinsic X-ray absorption column in the brightest epoch dataset. The observed FUV flux is determined by the combination of this and the fact that the source lies within a local absorption hole. RE J2248-511, which once defied classification, demonstrates that characterisation of such objects requires multi-epoch, multi-wavelength campaigns.

The study of the star formation rate (SFR) is crucial for understanding the birth and evolution of the galaxies (Kennicutt 1998), with this aim in mind, we make use of a well-characterized sample of 380 nearby galaxies from the CALIFA survey that fill the entire color-magnitude diagram in the Local Universe. The availability of wide-field CALIFA IFS ensures a proper determination of the underlying stellar continuum and, consequently, of the extiction-corrected Hα luminosity. We compare our integrated Hα-based SFRs with single and hybrids tracers at other wavelengths found in the literature (Calzetti 2013). Then, we provide a new set of single-band and hybrid calibrators anchored to the extinction-corrected Hα luminosities. In the case of the hybrid calibrators we determine the best fitting aIR coefficients for different combinations of observed (UV or Hα) and dust-reprocessed (22μm or TIR) SFR contributions (where SFR ∝ Lobs + aIR × L[IR]). This analysis allow us to provide, for the first time, a set of hybrid calibrations for different morphological types and masses. These are particularly useful in case that the sample to be analyzed shows a different bias in terms of morphology or, more commonly, luminosity or stellar mass. We also study the dependence of this coefficient with color and ionized-gas attenuation. The distributions of aIR values are quite wide in all cases. We found that not single physical property can by itself explain the variation found in aIR.

Finally, we explore the spatial distribution of the SFR by measuring the contribution of disks to the total SFR in the Local Universe. Our preliminary spatially-resolved analysis shows that the disk to total (disk + spheroidal component) SFR ratio is on average ∼ 88%. The use of the 2D spectroscopic data is critical to properly determine the Hα luminosity function and SFR density in the Local Universe per galaxy components, the ultimate goal of this project.

We present a new photometric typing technique for normal type Ia supernovae (SNe~Ia) and peculiar SNe~Ia such as SN~1991bg-like, type Iax and super-Chandrasekhar SNe~Ia. This photometric classifier allows the identification of exclusively normal SNe~Ia (with a purity above 99% and an efficiency greater than 80%) in current and future large wide field surveys for cosmological studies.

We suggest a new photometric method to estimate thicknesses of galactic disks which is working for the galaxies seen under arbitrary inclination. We have applied our method to 45 galaxies from the open SDSS archive and to 57 galaxies from the Spitzer Survey S4G).

The Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) belong to the most important small bodies in the solar system, having the capability of close approaches to the Earth and even possibility to collide with the Earth. In fact, it is impossible to calculate reliable orbit of an object from a single night observations. Therefore it is necessary to extend astrometry dataset by early follow-up astrometry. Follow-up observations of the newly discovered NEO candidate should be done over an arc of several hours after the discovery and should be repeated over several following nights. The basic service used for planning of the follow-up observations is the NEO Confirmation Page (NEOCP) maintained by the Minor Planet Center of the IAU. This service provides on-line tool for calculating geocentric and topocentic ephemerides and sky-plane uncertainty maps of these objects at the specific date and time. Uncertainty map is one of the most important information used for planning of follow-up observation strategy for given time, indicating also the estimated distance of the newly discovered object and including possibility of the impact. Moreover, observatories dealing with NEO follow-up regularly have prepared their special tools and systems for follow-up work. The system and strategy for the NEO follow-up observation used at the Klet Observatory are described here. Methods and techniques used at the Klet NEO follow-up CCD astrometric programme, using 1.06-m and 0.57-m telescopes, are also discussed.

I present first results from the algorithm we developed to photometrically classify the Supernovae discovered by the Supernova Diversity and Rate Evolution (SUDARE). The classification outcome is compared with that of the public available code SNANA.

We discuss the lack of a clear jet-break in the optical and X-ray afterglow light curve of GRB 130427A, which suggests that a very large isotropic energy is emitted in this burst.

The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) project performed its five year formal survey since Sep. 2012, already fulfilled the pilot survey and the 1st two years general survey with an output - spectroscopic data archive containing more than 4.1 million observations. One of the scientific objectives of the project is for better understanding the structure and evolution of the Milky Way. Thus, credible derivation of the physical properties of the stars plays a key role for the exploration. We developed and implemented the LAMOST stellar parameter pipeline (LASP) which can automatically determine the fundamental stellar atmospheric parameters (effective temperature Teff, surface gravity log g, metallicity [Fe/H], radial velocity Vr) for late A, FGK type stars observed during the survey. An overview of the LASP, including the strategy, the algorithm and the process is presented in this work.

We examine the evolution induced by secular processes of an initial, cosmologically motivated, radial chemical distribution, in a barred and an unbarred disk.

In this work, we have studied five different GRBs detected by Swift: GRB 071010B (z = 0.94), GRB 080411 (z = 1.03), GRB 080413B (z = 1.10), GRB 091208B (z = 1.06) and GRB 110715A (z = 0.82); Those GRBs, with similar z and have well defined pulses. To obtain spectral lag, we fit the light curves with a model having exponential rise and decay parts. In addition, we performed spectral analysis using three spectral models for different GRBs' regions: power law, cutoff power law and band model. Additionaly, we releated spectral parameters such as photon index and luminosity with spectral lag. The analysis suggests that there are two types of pulses associated to specific radiation mechanisms which would reveal the radiation process of long gamma-ray bursts.

While observations in the radio band are providing essential information on the innermost structures of relativistic jets in active galactic nuclei (AGN), the recent detection by Fermi of gamma-ray emission from many hundreds of blazars shows that the maximum jet power is emitted at high energies. Multi-wavelength monitoring observations further allow variability studies of the AGN spectral energy distributions over 13 orders of magnitude in frequency. The Joint Discussion offered the possibility for a comprehensive discussion of advances in the observational domain and stimulated theoretical discussion about our current understanding of jet physics.
