Let fλ(z) = λez. In this short note, we consider those maps fλ with λ close to 1. We show that the probability that fλ is hyperbolic approaches 1 as λ → 1.

In [7], O. Lehto and K. I. Virtanen introduced the concept of normal meromorphic functions in connection with the study of boundary behaviour of meromorphic functions of one complex variable.

In this paper, we generalize the theory of normal meromorphic functions to the case of holomorphic mappings into higher dimensional complex spaces in connection with the theory of hyperbolic manifolds and Nevanlinna theory.

The main concern of this paper is the generalizations of the big Picard theorem and Lindelöf’s theorem which appear in the classical function theory.

It is a well-known result in the theory of conformal mappings of Jordan domains that if a domain D in the z-plane bounded by a closed Jordan curve C is mapped conformally on the disc |w;|<1 by a function w = f(z), analytic and univalent in D, then f(z) will be continuous on the closure of D and will map C on |w| =1 in a one to one manner (Carathéodory [2]), and that if C is rectifiable, then f(z) will map sets E of points of linear measure zero on C onto sets of linear measure zero on the circumference |w| = 1 and sets E of positive linear measure onto sets of positive linear measure on |w| =1 (F. and M. Riesz [12] and Lusin and Privaloff [8]).

Let S (resp. S′) be a (real) hypersurface (i.e. a real analytic sub-manifold of codimension 1) of an n-dimensional complex manifold M (resp. M′). A homeomorphism f of S onto S′ is called a pseudo-conformal homeomorphism if it can be extended to a holomorphic homeomorphism of a neighborhood of S in M onto a neighborhood of S′ in M. In case such an f exists, we say that S and S′ are pseudo-conformally equivalent. A hypersurface S is called non-degenerate (index r) if its Levi-form is non-degenerate (and its index is equal to r) at each point of S.

A Vaisman manifold is a special kind of locally conformally Kähler manifold, which is closely related to a Sasaki manifold. In this paper, we show a basic structure theorem of simply connected homogeneous Sasaki and Vaisman manifolds of unimodular Lie groups, up to holomorphic isometry. For the case of unimodular Lie groups, we obtain a complete classification of simply connected Sasaki and Vaisman unimodular Lie groups, up to modification.

Let f(z) be a non-degenerate meromorphic mapping of the n-dimensional complex Euclidean space Cn into the N-dimensional complex projective space PNC. A generalization of results of Edrei-Fuchs [2] for meromorphic mappings of C into PNC was given by Toda [5], and an estimate of K(λ) for meromorphic mappings of Cn into PNC was done by Noguchi [4]. In this note we generalize several results of Edrei-Fuchs [2] in the case of meromorphic mappings of Cn into PNC.

The Dirichlet problem of prescribed mean curvature equations is well posed, if the boundery is H-convex. In this article we eliminate the H-convexity condition from a portion Γ of the boundary and prove the existence theorem, where the boundary condition is satisfied on Γ in the weak sense.

The author continues his previous work with the purpose of establishing a theory of newforms in the case of half-integral weight. In this paper, the author formulates and proves a complete theory of newforms for Kohnen space. Kohnen space is an important canonical subspace in the space of cusp forms of half-integral weight k + 1/2 (k > 0). Every Hecke common eigenform in Kohnen space corresponds to a primitive form of integral weight 2k and of odd level via Shimura Correspondence.

These newforms for Kohnen space satisfy the Strong multiplicity One theorem. Moreover, we explicitly determine the corresponding primitive form (of weight 2k) to each newform for Kohnen space. The space of oldforms is also explicitly described.

In order to find all newforms for Kohnen space, the author needs a certain non-vanishing property of Fourier coefficients of cusp forms. Such property proves by using representation theory of finite linear groups. The method of proof of newform theory is mainly based on trace formulae and trace relations.

In a previous investigation [1], the author has studied finite groups of an order g = pg0 where p is a prime and g0 an integer not divisible by p. This work has been continued by H. F. Tuan [5]. Let t denote the number of conjugate classes of which consist of element of order p. Tuan dealt with the groups for which t≦2 and which have a faithful representation of degree less than p - 1. We shall assume here that t≧3. We shall also suppose that does not have a normal subgroup of order p. We state here two results. We give a geometric construction of the Verma modules of a symmetric Kac-Moody Lie algebra g in terms of constructible functions on the varieties of nilpotent finite-dimensional modules of the corresponding preprojective algebra Λ.

Let E/F be a finite extension of algebraic number fields, OE, OF the maximal orders of E, F respectively. A classical theorem of Springer [6] asserts that an anisotropic quadratic space over F remains anisotropic over E if the degree [E: F] is odd. From this follows that regular quadratic spaces U, V over F are isometric if they are isometric over E and [E : F] is odd. Earnest and Hsia treated similar problems for the spinor genera [2, 3]. We are concerned with the quadratic lattices. Let L, M be quadratic lattices over OF in regular quadratic spaces U, V over F respectively.

It seems to the author that the theory of vector bundles of rank r over an abelian variety of dimension g is not sufficiently developed except for the two cases r = 1 and g = 1. The case r = 1 is the theory of theta functions and is one of the richest branches of mathematics. It is quite natural to try to explore vector bundles in the higher rank case as we did in the case r = 1.

Let A be a Noetherian local ring with maximal ideal m. In 1973 J. Barshay [1] showed that, if A is a Cohen-Macaulay ring, then so is the Rees algebra R(q) = ⊕n≧0qn for every parameter ideal q of A (cf. p. 93, Corollary). Recently the author and Y. Shimoda [5] have proved that the Rees algebra R(q) is a Cohen-Macaulay ring for every parameter ideal q of A if and only if

Let D be a domain in ℝm+1 and E be a domain in ℝn+1. A pair of a smooth mapping f : D → E and a smooth positive function ϕ on D is called a caloric morphism if ϕ ˙u o f is a solution of the heat equation in D whenever u is a solution of the heat equation in E. We give the characterization of caloric morphisms, and then give the determination of caloric morphisms. In the case of m < n, there are no caloric morphisms. In the case of m = n, caloric morphisms are generated by the dilation, the rotation, the translation and the Appell transformation. In the case of m > n, under some assumption on f, every caloric morphism is obtained by composing a projection with a direct sum of caloric morphisms of ℝn+1.

We have proved in [2] that if the restricted homogeneous holonomy group of a complete Riemannian manifold is contained in the linear isotropy group at every point, then the Riemannian manifold is locally symmetric, that is, the covariant derivatives of the curvature tensor field are zero. The proof of this theorem, however, depended on an insufficiently stated proposition (Theorem 1, [2]). In the present note, we shall give a proof of a more general theorem of the same type.

We study the monomial crystal defined by the second author. We show that each component of the monomial crystal can be embedded into a crystal of an extremal weight module introduced by Kashiwara. And we determine all monomials appearing in the components corresponding to all level 0 fundamental representations of quantum affine algebras except for some nodes of . Thus we obtain explicit descriptions of the crystals in these examples. We also give those for the corresponding finite dimensional representations. For classical types, we give them in terms of tableaux. For exceptional types, we list up all monomials.
