A Hadamard matrix of order n is an n by n matrix of 1’s and − 1’s such that HHt − nI. In such a matrix n is necessarily 1, 2 or a multiple of 4. Two Hadamard matrices H1 and H2 are called equivalent if there exist monomial matrices P, Q with PH1Q = H2. An automorphism of a Hadamard matrix H is an equivalence of the matrix to itself, i.e. a pair (P, Q) of monomial matrices such that PHQ = H. In other words, an automorphism of H is a permutation of its rows followed by multiplication of some rows by − 1, which leads to reordering of its columns and multiplication of some columns by − 1. The set of all automorphisms form a group under composition called the automorphism group (Aut H) of H. For a detailed study of the basic properties and applications of Hadamard matrices see, e.g. [1], [7, Chap. 14], [8].

In the theory of modular representations of a finite group G in an algebraically closed field Ω of characteristic p, Brauer has proved a useful reduction theorem for blocks [2, §§11, 12], [5, (88.8)], which can be reformulated as follows:

We obtain characterizations of positive Borel measures µ on Bn so that some weighted Hardy-Sobolev are imbedded in Lp(dµ), where w is an Ap weight in the unit sphere of Cn.

If one looks back the classical proof (cf. Carlitz [4]) of the reciprocity law for Dedekind sums in order to construct q-analogue of Dedekind sums which also have the reciprocity law, one can soon see that the following elementary equation is essential in the proof:

for any distinct complex numbers u and v, where means the generating function of Euler numbers associated to u. So we must extend the above equation to the generating function of q-Euler numbers for our purpose.

Let (G, ρ, X) be a prehomogeneous vector space with singular set S over an algebraic number field F. The main result of this paper is a proof for the convergence of the zeta fucntions Z(Φ, s) associated with (G, ρ, X) for large Re s under the assumption that S is a hypersurface. This condition is satisfied if G is reductive and (G, ρ, X) is regular. When the connected component of the stabilizer of a generic point x is semisimple and the group Πx of connected components of Gx is abelian, a clear estimate of the domain of convergence is given.

Moreover when S is a hypersurface and the Hasse principle holds for G, it is shown that the zeta fucntions are sums of (usually infinite) Euler products, the local components of which are orbital local zeta functions. This result has been proved in a previous paper by the author under the more restrictive condition that (G, ρ, X) is irreducible, regular, and reduced, and the zeta function is absolutely convergent.

S. Bochner proved the following theorem in [B].

In the previous paper [4] we have studied the prolongations of G-structures to tangent bundles. The purpose of the present paper is to generalize the previous prolongations and to look at them from a wide view as a special case by considering the tangent bundles of higher order. In fact, in some places, the arguments and calculations in [4] are more or less simplified. Since the usual tangent bundle T(M) of a manifold M considers only the first derivatives or first contact elements of M, the previous paper contains, in most parts, only the calculation of derivatives of first order.

Let (X, ω) be a weakly pseudoconvex Kähler manifold, Y ⊂ X a closed submanifold defined by some holomorphic section of a vector bundle over X, and L a Hermitian line bundle satisfying certain positivity conditions. We prove that for any integer k > 0, any section of the jet sheaf which satisfies a certain L2 condition, can be extended into a global holomorphic section of L over X whose L2 growth on an arbitrary compact subset of X is under control. In particular, if Y is merely a point, this gives the existence of a global holomorphic function with an L2 norm under control and with prescribed values for all its derivatives up to order k at that point. This result generalizes the L2 extension theorems of Ohsawa-Takegoshi and of Manivel to the case of jets of sections of a line bundle. A technical difficulty is to achieve uniformity in the constant appearing in the final estimate. To this end, we make use of the exponential map and of a Rauch-type comparison theorem for complete Riemannian manifolds.

In this paper, we will study a global weak solution for the Yang-Mills gradient flow on a closed (i.e., compact without boundary) 4-manifold. Let us explain some notion briefly to be able to state our results.

Let m be a non-square positive integer. Let K be the Galois extension over the rational number field Q generated by and . Then its Galois group over Q is the dihedral group D4 of order 8 and has the unique two-dimensional irreducible complex representation ψ. In view of the theory of Hecke-Weil-Langlands, we know that ψ defines a cusp form of weight one (cf. Serre [6]).

In a previous paper, we studied a general theory of integrally closed Henselian integrity domains and some properties of Henselian valuation rings. The present paper is its continuation. The main aim of the present paper is to study a general theory of Henselian local integrity domains in the present paper we call a ring o a local ring if o is a quasi-local ring and if the intersection of all powers of the maximal ideal of o is zero, and in this case we introduce a topology by taking the system of all powers of the maximal ideal as a system of neighbourhoods of zero.

In 1938, C. L. Siegel studied zeta functions of indefinite quadratic forms ([6], c). On the other hand, M. Sato and T. Shintani constructed the general theory of zeta functions of one complex variable associated with prehomogeneous vector spaces in 1974 ([1]). Moreover T. Shintani studied several zeta functions of prehomogeneous vector spaces, especially, “Dirichlet series whose coefficients are class-numbers of integral binary cubic forms” ([3]) and “Zeta functions associated with the vector space of quadratic forms” ([2]).

The multi-parameter Brownian motion introduced by P. Lévy is not only a basic random field but also gives us interesting fine probabilistic structures as well as important properties from the view point of analysis. We shall be interested in investigation of such structures and properties by expressing the Brownian motion in terms of the multiparameter white noise. The expression naturally requires basic tools from analysis, in particular the Radon transform. While there arises the special linear group SL(n + 1, R), to which the Radon transform is adapted, and the group plays an important role in observing probabilistic structures of the Brownian motion. To be more interested, we can give some deep insight to unitary representations of SL(n + 1, R) through our discussion.

Motivated by a recent work of Loaiza et al. for the holomorphic case on the disk, we introduce and study the notion of Schatten-Herz type Toeplitz operators acting on the harmonic Bergman space of the ball. We obtain characterizations of positive Toeplitz operators of Schatten-Herz type in terms of averaging functions and Berezin transforms of symbol functions. Our characterization in terms of Berezin transforms settles a question posed by Loaiza et al.
