Let $(R,\mathfrak{m})$ be a Noetherian local ring of characteristic $p>0$. We introduce and study $F$-full and $F$-anti-nilpotent singularities, both are defined in terms of the Frobenius actions on the local cohomology modules of $R$ supported at the maximal ideal. We prove that if $R/(x)$ is $F$-full or $F$-anti-nilpotent for a nonzero divisor $x\in R$, then so is $R$. We use these results to obtain new cases on the deformation of $F$-injectivity.

A 𝔻-semiclassical weight is one which satisfies a particular linear, first-order homogeneous equation in a divided-difference operator 𝔻. It is known that the system of polynomials, orthogonal with respect to this weight, and the associated functions satisfy a linear, first-order homogeneous matrix equation in the divided-difference operator termed the spectral equation. Attached to the spectral equation is a structure which constitutes a number of relations such as those arising from compatibility with the three-term recurrence relation. Here this structure is elucidated in the general case of quadratic lattices. The simplest examples of the 𝔻-semiclassical orthogonal polynomial systems are precisely those in the Askey table of hypergeometric and basic hypergeometric orthogonal polynomials. However within the 𝔻-semiclassical class it is entirely natural to define a generalization of the Askey table weights which involve a deformation with respect to new deformation variables. We completely construct the analogous structures arising from such deformations and their relations with the other elements of the theory. As an example we treat the first nontrivial deformation of the Askey–Wilson orthogonal polynomial system defined by the q-quadratic divided-difference operator, the Askey–Wilson operator, and derive the coupled first-order divided-difference equations characterizing its evolution in the deformation variable. We show that this system is a member of a sequence of classical solutions to the q-Painlevé system.

The aim of this paper is to study a property of a special kind of exact functors and give some applications to projective modules and injective modules.

In section 1 we introduce the notion of faithfully exact functors [Definition 1] as a generalization of the functor T(X) = X⊗M, where M is a faithfully flat module, and give a property of this class of functors [Theorem 1.1]. Next, applying this general theory to functors ⊗ and Horn, we define the notion of faithfully projective modules [Definition 2] and faithfully injective modules [Definition 3]. In the commutative case “faithfully projective” means, however, simply “projective and faithfully flat” [Proposition 2.3]. In section 2, equivalent conditions for a projective module P to be faithfully projective are given [Theorem 2.2, Proposition 2. 3 and 2.4]. And a simpler proof is given to Y. Hinohara’s result [6] asserting that projective modules over an indecomposable weakly noetherian ring are faithfully flat [Proposition 2.5]. In section 3, we consider faithfully injective modules.

Bourbaki has established the following theorem which we state without proof as

THEOREM A ([3, Theorem 6, §4]). Let R be a noetherian integrally closed domain and M a finitely generated torsion free R-module. Then there exists a free submodule F of M such that M/F is isomorphic to an ideal in R.

It is our purpose in this note to present a few consequences of this theorem. Before giving these results we briefly review some terminology and known results.

In 1975, Li and Yorke [3] found the following fact. Let f: I→ I be a continuous map of the compact interval I of the real line R into itself. If f has a periodic point of minimal period three, then f exhibits chaotic behavior. The above result is generalized by F.R. Marotto [4] in 1978 for the multi-dimensional case as follows. Let f: Rn → Rn be a differentiate map of the n-dimensional Euclidean space Rn (n ≧ 1) into itself. If f has a snap-back repeller, then f exhibits chaotic behavior.

In this paper, we give a generalization of the above theorem of Marotto. Our theorem can also be regarded as a generalization of the Smale’s results on the transversal homoclinic point of a diffeomorphism.

Let us consider a finite closed interval [− a, a] which will be thought of as being a medium capable of transporting particles. These particles may move only to the right or to the left with the constant speed c, and each particle changes the moving-direction during the time Δ with probability kΔ + o(Δ). If a right- (left-) moving particle hits the boundary point a (— a), then either it turns to the left (right) with probability 1 — q1(1 − q-1) or dies with probability q1(q-1).

Let k be an algebraic number field of finite degree and be a prime ideal of k, lying above a rational prime p. We denote by G () the multiplicative group of residue classes modulo (N ≧ 0) which are relatively prime to . The structure of G () is well-known, when N = 0, or k is the rational number field Q. If k is a quadratic number field, then the direct decomposition of G () is determined by A. Ranum [6] and F.H-Koch [4] who gives a basis of a group of principal units in the local quadratic number field according to H. Hasse [2]. In [5, Theorem 6.2], W. Narkiewicz obtains necessary and sufficient conditions so that G () is cyclic, in connection with a group of units in the -adic completion of k.

The main aim of this paper is to classify Ulrich ideals and Ulrich modules over two-dimensional Gorenstein rational singularities (rational double points) from a geometric point of view. To achieve this purpose, we introduce the notion of (weakly) special Cohen–Macaulay modules with respect to ideals, and study the relationship between those modules and Ulrich modules with respect to good ideals.

In this paper, we shall be concerned with the finiteness property of certain holomorphic mappings into a compact quotient of symmetric bounded domain.

Let be a symmetric bounded domain in n-dimensional complex Euclidean space Cn and Γ\ be a compact quotient of S by a torsion free discrete subgroup Γ of automorphism group of . Further, we denote by l() the maximum value of dimension of proper boundary component of , which is less than n (=dim).

We study the existence of L2 holomorphic sections of invariant line bundles over Galois coverings. We show that the von Neumann dimension of the space of L2 holomorphic sections is bounded below under weak curvature conditions. We also give criteria for a compact complex space with isolated singularities and some related strongly pseudoconcave manifolds to be Moishezon. As applications we prove the stability of the previous Moishezon pseudoconcave manifolds under perturbation of complex structures as well as weak Lefschetz theorems.

For an abelian totally real number field F and an odd prime number p which splits totally in F, we present a functorial approach to special “p-units” previously built by D. Solomon using “wild” Euler systems. This allows us to prove a conjecture of Solomon on the annihilation of the p-class group of F (in the particular context here), as well as related annihilation results and index formulae.

By means of simple exact sequences in commutative algebra, we can derive some effective criteria for Cohen-Macaulay property of finite partially ordered sets.

Using an induction formula of local densities by Kitaoka, we give an explicit formula for the Fourier coefficients of Siegel Eisenstein series of degree

The commutators of convolution operators are considered. By localization and Fourier transform estimates, a sufficient condition such that these commutators are bounded on L2(ℝn) is given. As applications, some new results about the L2(ℝn) boundedness for the commutators of homogeneous singular integral operators are established.

In the study of nonassociative algebras various “triple systems” frequently arise from the associator function and other multilinear objects. In particular Lie triple systems arise in the study of Jordan algebras and a generalization of a Lie triple system arises in Malcev algebras. Lie triple systems also are used to study totally geodesic submanifolds of a Riemannian symmetric space. We shall show how a generalization of Lie triple systems also arises from the study of curvature and geodesies of a torsion free connexion on a manifold and bring out the relation of this to various nonassociative algebras.

The present paper constitutes, together with [13], a continuation of the study of differential geometry of homogeneous spaces which we started in [11]. Our main result states that if the homogeneous holonomy group of a complete Riemannian manifold is contained in the linear isotropy group at each point, then the Riemannian manifold is symmetric. The converse is of course one of the well known properties of a Riemannian symmetric space [4]. Besides the results already sketched in [12], we add a few applications of the main theorem.

We are interested in determining, after a finite number of procedures, the number and the approximate positions of limit cycles for a given system.

The motivation for the results in this note comes from a theorem of Macaulay. Let f1, …, fn be elements of a polynomial ring R over a field, and let I be the ideal they generate. Assume IR and rank (I) = n. Then the theorem of Lasker and Macaulay asserts that I is unmixed (all prime ideals belonging to I have rank n). Macaulay [1, p. 51] proved further that any power of I is unmixed.
