The position, size and shape of the bubble are determined from images recorded with a backlight on a fast camera located in front of the tank. (b) Surrounding flow investigation. The surface spinning and the wake behind the bubble at its equilibrium position are visualized with a laser sheet as shown. With this lighting, a shadow appears behind the bubble on the bubble side that is opposed to the laser source. The fast camera (not visible in the figure) is still positioned in front of the tank.
