In Part IV of the book, chapter 14 develops the analysis introduced in Part I and discusses the definition and measurement of the creative industries and the economic rationale for treating them as a specific sector. In chapters 15–18, the profiles of the music, film, broadcasting and book publishing industries first presented in chapter 4 are expanded and research by cultural economists and others is reported. Chapter 19 covers several topics to do with spatial aspects of the creative industries: festivals, creative cities and cultural tourism.
