Conclusion
Summary
After reading and writing my way through the scriptural, historical, theological and all so human story of Israel/Palestine, I feel that it will take some one person, or group, to act as a catalyst for change, as it will take representatives from all groups to bring about change. A spark can ignite the passions for peace, but it will take a collaborative shift in the will of all the people, or at least in the will of those with enough power to enforce the changes necessary on all the people. It will take a listening, a praying, a sharing between members of the Abrahamic feuding family. It will take persons of great humility, wisdom, patience, compassion and perseverance. It will take an Oscar Romero, a Desmond Tutu, a Nelson Mandela, a Mohandas Gandhi, a Catherine of Siena, an Indira Gandhi, or an Ivone Gebara – persons of deep spiritual knowing whatever their faith base – persons willing to allow the spirit to shift them from a place of the known to a place of the unknown. It will take persons confident in the powerful grace of God and it will take persons fearless in the face of all things physically and emotionally fearsome. Who will emerge as these much needed leaders? Whom will the opposition – on all sides – allow to be free, to live, to lead and to turn prophetic ideals into tangible, physical realities?
