This piece explores the doctoral experience through three humour theories—benign violation, superiority, and ontic-epistemic. Using three vignettes, it highlights how higher education faculty can help postgraduate students overcome challenges and transform their perspectives. Valuable for PhD students and faculty, it encourages introspection and critical thinking.
