The Pandemic resulted in a rapid move to online, this coupled with further digital innovations has meant traffic on Cambridge Core has continued to increase year on year. This change in behavior is also illustrated by declining print orders which makes the print option unsustainable.

As a Press we are committed to reducing our carbon emissions and our printing and distribution components contribute the most negatively to our overall impact on the environment. Therefore, we are making changes, where appropriate across our portfolio.

Your institution’s access will continue in accordance with its agreement with Cambridge and will not be interrupted.

As the print & online subscription will no longer be available, you will receive a renewal notice for the online-only product for 2024. It is likely that the online-only subscription will be a lower price than you will have paid for a print & online subscription in the current year.

You will not lose access to any content that you have subscribed to online. When you purchase a current subscription at Cambridge, you will have access to that content online in perpetuity.

The move to online-only may result in a reduction on your 2025 subscription price, if your institution had been on a print-only or a bundle subscription.

If you already had an online-only subscription for 2024, you will see no price rise for 2025.

No. The final issue of 2024 will be the final print issue produced. When the journal moves online-only, print copies will no longer be produced.

No, the focus of moving to online-only is to ensure readers receive all of the content produced by the journal and allow them the ability to interact with the articles and the data where possible. This is to ensure they get the most of their experience from the journal by providing a complete product.

We are also committed to reducing our energy-related emissions to zero-carbon globally by 2048 and we will be removing POD for online-only journals.

Communications will be sent to librarians and agents with the 2025 price list which is sent in early July 2024.

Authors and researchers who receive alerts will receive communication via email and social media from September 2024.

We will be honouring any existing agreements where DDP has been offered for the duration of the contract. However, any new agreements from 2023 onwards will no longer offer DDP and it will not continue for individual journals that convert to e-only in a given year.
