This is another dissection manual from the Sanna stable in Piacenza. There is an initial section on the set-up. This gives a description of the injection technique that was developed at the centre. The anatomy section which follows has brilliant photographs of the prosected specimens. These excellent pictures have been a hallmark of all the dissection manuals from this centre.
The subsequent sections describe the different approaches to the mastoid bones. All these approaches have initial indications for the operation and surgical steps, followed by hints and pitfalls. The photographs are excellent, but unfortunately do not relate well to the surgical steps described. This left me with the feeling that this was more a colour atlas of temporal bone anatomy rather than a formal dissection manual.
However, the book covers all the approaches that one would need, and a few that one is unlikely to perform!

I feel that this book would be a useful addition to any library. However, it would be better used as a colour atlas along with a dissection manual, rather than as a manual in itself.
