This is an excellent book which exclusively focuses on recurrent head and neck cancer, an important topic that lacks extensive coverage in many other reference texts. The contributors, who are world-renowned experts from all multidisciplinary areas, have put together this evidence-based reference text in a systematic and clinically relevant manner.

The first chapters focus on the general principles and techniques underpinning the investigation and management of recurrent head and neck cancer. There are a large number of references at the end of each chapter, along with a selection of recommended articles and future research trends for further reading. There are case studies with clinical scenarios and correlating clinical and intra-operative photographs and imaging slides. The final chapters of the book focus on rehabilitation, psychosocial and palliative issues from a multidisciplinary team perspective.

The front page is well designed, presenting a collage of pictures summarising the material covered in the following chapters. The book is certainly a high quality production, with a solid hardback exterior, fine, glossy pages, and high resolution illustrations throughout.

Overall, this is an excellent reference book for both surgeons and oncologists, and provides a thorough and clinically relevant review of the different aspects of head and neck cancer recurrence.
