Community

We represent people who work in and around the City of London and utilise business and commercial information.

One of the great things about our community is that it is open to people (who work in and around the City of London and utilise business and commercial information) at all stages of their careers – from graduates to information professional gurus.

Our members' roles are varied within the information industry, e.g. information specialists, knowledge workers, researchers, analysts and librarians.

Members come from all areas of business, e.g. professional services firms, specialist consultancies, investment banks, financial services firms, blue chip companies and not-for-profit organisations.

CiG also welcomes members from the information supplier side of the market, e.g. recruitment, information broking and business and product development.

Connect

We offer an opportunity to meet colleagues and peers within the community:

Seminars & events

CiG aims to offer a varied and interesting selection of seminars and social events to members of the information community. We hold one seminar per month. 2008's agenda includes seminars on Second Life, Data Protection and Working with IT, and events such as an Open Day and Summer Party.

CiG co-hosts the annual Information Professionals Christmas Party with other information professional groups.

Website

CiG maintains a knowledge sharing website which includes details of past and future events, useful industry links and past newsletters. We have plans to develop the website to provide an updated look and improved online services to members.

CiGlet

CiG produces a quarterly newsletter containing reports of our seminars and related articles.

Share

We provide a forum to learn, debate and discuss developments in business and commercial information.

By constantly reviewing our membership offering, through feedback from our seminar and event attendees, holding committee brainstorming sessions, and consulting with our industry Ambassadors, we continue to focus our seminars and events on industry hot topics.

Annual Open Day and AGM

CiG hosts an annual Open Day and AGM. This year's Open Day was held at the St Brides Institute on 25th June. The AGM was held in September.

Yearbook

CiG produces an annual publication containing articles relating to the information industry, and a directory of key industry product and service providers. The yearbook is free to members and is available at the annual Online Information Exhibition.

Online

CiG has a stand every year at the Online Information Exhibition held in December.

Cost of membership

£45 standard membership per year (pay membership rate for each seminar).

£110 inclusive membership per year (including attendance at all seminars).
