The use of enrichment objects by individual pigs in commercial groups

The provision of environmental enrichment for pigs is a legal requirement within the EU. However, there is debate as to what constitutes suitable enrichment in commercial environments where straw cannot be used. The objective of this study was to investigate the use of objects by pigs under UK commercial conditions, and the extent to which individual pigs used, or were prevented from using, the enrichment provided.
