Trump - Causes and Consequences
The October Surprise
No matter where you stand on President Donald Trump, it is difficult to deny that he has inaugurated a period of uncertainty, flux, and potentially revolutionary change in American and global politics. When he descended an escalator in the Trump Tower to announce his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination, few took him seriously. Yet he defeated a broad field of Republican contenders, including prominent governors and senators, and pulled out a last minute victory over Hilary Clinton, defying the predictions generated by political scientists using sophisticated of survey research models. In 2019, following last year’s call for papers, we will devote significant space in the journal to the theme “Trump: Causes and Consequences.”
Since the midterm elections are upon us, and some the papers for that issue are ready to go, we are releasing them on FirstView and they will remain ungated until the end of November. Happy reading!
