Efficient Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifiers Pumped in the 800-nm Band

Abstract
A comprehensive theoretical investigation of the 800-nm pump band for erbium-doped fiber amplifiers is presented. Both a silica and a fluorophosphate host are examined. To obtain the same amplification, the fluorophosphate requires 2–3 dB less pump power.
