Student Series Talk and Concert, 15th October 2008, Tullio Lobetti, (Student Representative on Council) in the Chair. The Student Representative welcomed Dr Saida Daukeyeva who gave a talk and performance ‘Dombra Performance: Music and memory among the Mongolian Kazakhs’.

Student Series Talks and Joint Meeting with the Royal Society for Asian Affairs, 20th November, 2008, Professor A. J. Stockwell (President) and Tullio Lobetti (Student Representative on Council) in the Chair. The President and the Student Representative first welcomed Peter Cole, recipient of the Sir Peter Homes Memorial Awards for Travel (2008), who lectured on ‘Exploring a Local Identity in the Yemen’; then welcomed Hannah Warren, ‘Female weavers in a Village in Madya Pradesh, North India: a photographic study, in conclusion he welcomed Dr Alasdair Pinkerton, finalist for the First Sir George Staunton Award, who lectured on ‘Radio and the Raj: Broadcasting in British India’.

Student Series Film, 10t h December 2008, Tullio Lobetti, (Student Representative on Council) in the Chair. The film ‘Angry Monk’ was introduced and screened.

Student Series Talk, 21st January 2009, Tullio Lobetti (Student Representative on Council) in the Chair. The Student Representative welcomed Dr Mark Dickens who lectured on, ‘Changing Perceptions of the Turks in Syriac Literature’.

Student Series Talk, 18th February 2009, Tullio Lobetti (Student Representative on Council) in the Chair. Francesca di Marco was scheduled to lecture on ‘Suicide in Post-War Japan: Discursive Constructions of Suicide Tribes’.

Student Series Talk and Performance, 18th March 2009, Tullio Lobetti, (Student Representative on Council) in the Chair. The Student Representative welcomed Scheherazaad Cooper who lectured on and performed ‘Odissi-Indian Classical Dance’.

Student Series Talk, 22nd April 2009, Tullio Lobetti, (Student Representative on Council) in the Chair. The Student Representative welcomed Max Lovell-Hoare who gave a talk entitled, ‘Tracing Tea: Darjeeling to London in Pursuit of the Perfect Cuppa’.

Student Series Talk, 20th May 2009, Tullio Lobetti, (Student Representative on Council) in the Chair. The Student Representative welcomed Selen Etingü who lectured on ‘Commemorating the Dead in Ottoman Society’.

Student Series Talk and Concert, 12th June 2009, Tullio Lobetti, (Student Representative on Council) in the Chair. The Student Representative welcomed Bora Keskiner, Serkan Delice and Tolga Bektaş who gave a talk and a concert entitled ‘A Composer on the Throne: The Music of Sultan Selim III and his Court’.
