Student Series Talks, 17th October 2012, Tullio Lobetti (Student Representative on Council) in the Chair. Mr Lobetti welcomed Cristina Castillo who gave a talk on ‘Prehistoric Cuisine in Thailand: Rice, Beans and Spice’. He also welcomed Matthew George Phillips who gave a talk on ‘A Theatre with Two Stages: Jim Thompson and the Construction of Thainess during the Cold War’.

Student Series Talks, 14th November 2012, Tullio Lobetti (Student Representative on Council) in the Chair. Mr Lobetti welcomed Richard McClary who gave a talk on ‘The Creation of a New Aesthetic: Early 12th Century Rum Saljuq Architecture in Anatatolia’. He also welcomed Juha Komppa who gave a talk on ‘Tibet in Chinese Han Imaginings’.

Mr Lobetti welcomed Yin Hwang who gave a talk on ‘Chinese Visuality and Europe in the Modern Period’. He also welcomed Tanmayee Banerjee who gave a talk on ‘Nationalism and Internationalism in Indian English Fiction, 1909–1930’.

Mr Lobetti welcomed Sarah Ashraf who gave a talk on ‘The Relationship between Religious Education and Islamic Extremism in Pakistan’. He also welcomed Shaun McPhee who gave a talk on ‘Gender, Power and Economy in Contemporary North Korea’.

Non-British European Powers in India vis-à-vis the British. He also welcomed Katherine Hughes who gave a talk on ‘Bird and the Bevelled Style: Samanid Carved Wood from the Upper Zerafshan Valley’.
