General Meeting, 6th November 2008, Professor A. J. Stockwell (President) in the Chair. The President welcomed Professor Doris Behrens-Abouseif who lectured on ‘The Mosque of Sultan Hasan: Architecture and the Arts of the Book’.

General Meeting, 11th December 2008, Professor A. J. Stockwell (President) in the Chair. The President welcomed Professor Edhem Eldem who lectured on ‘The Ottoman Culture of Death: A Vision of Modernity and Change’.

General Meeting 8th January 2009, Professor A. J. Stockwell (President) in the Chair. The President welcomed Professor Antonio Panaino who lectured on ‘Yama’/Yima's choice and the Primordial incest. New Considerations about an Indo-Iranian Mytheme’.

General Meeting 12th February 2009, Professor A. J. Stockwell (President) in the Chair. The President welcomed Dr Lukas Nickel who lectured on ‘Buddhist Sculpture in Early Medieval China’.

General Meeting 12th March 2009, Professor A. J. Stockwell (President) in the Chair. The President welcomed Professor Timon Screech who lectured on ‘Power and Magic in the City Planning of Edo (Tokyo), 1590–1657’.

General Meeting 16th April 2009, Professor A. J. Stockwell (President) in the Chair. The President welcomed Professor Huw Bowen who lectured on ‘C. H. Philips and the East India Company’.

The Anniversary General Meeting 7th May 2009, Professor A. J. Stockwell (President) in the Chair. The President welcomed Professor Sir Christopher Bayly and presented him with the Royal Asiatic Society, Medal 2009. Sir Christopher then lectured on ‘Indian Thought in the Liberal Age c. 1870–1920’.

General Meeting 11th June 2009, Professor A. J. Stockwell (Former President) in the Chair. Professor Stockwell welcomed Professor Ian Brown who lectured on ‘Crime in Colonial Burma’.
