Summary
This chapter examines the common obsession regarding fearing something bad will happen due to failure to complete things safely, or tring to obtain the ‘just right’ feeling before being confident, or the fear that your memory is unreliable. These commonly involve checking compulsions. Sometimes it can also involve performing an action until it feels ‘just right’. This is a frequent feeling in people with various types of OCD. The issue of habitual behaviours and why people with OCD often feel they may have a poor memory is also discussed.
